(Lechería, November 20, O’kuroku).- Oh boy, it is finally time to talk about episode 3 of RWBY Volume 6. I just could not wait any longer. So without further delay, let us get into it.

I lost count on how many times I was told my opinion about Ozpin would completely change after watching this episode. However, that did not happen in the slightest, on the contrary, I like him even less now. But before giving you my reasons, let us talk about the episode first.

To make a long story short, Salem did not accept Ozma’s death and asked the Gods to bring him back, which led to the apocalypse. How did we end up in that situation? Despite you might think, I was not because Salem wanted to watch the world burns, nor because she sinned so badly that humanity deserved to be wiped out.

No. The main reason for having all that mess was pretty simple (and unbelievable). The Gods are total jerks, have a bad temper, and cannot handle things properly.

I know you might say Salem acted petty too, and you would be right. However, she was hurt because of Ozma’s death, and let us be honest here, who have not wished at least once for a dead loved one to be resurrected?

Unlike us, she had the opportunity to directly go to the Gods’ lair and speak to them face to face and she used it. In the end, she was only a woman in love. The Gods, on the other hand, are supposed to be wise beings, and they should have handled things better.

Instead, the God of Light got angry when a hurt lady did not accept he would not bring back her beloved from the dead. I mean, He just chased her away and nothing more. At least He should have kept trying to comfort her. It was understandable that she acted selfishly, but He did not show all the wisdom He supposedly had.

Unfortunately, His brother was not better. The God of Darkness, did not hesitate to break the so called balance just because He had his first follower. I mean, for real? Was not that balance very important? Losing a loved one is not good enough to break the balance, but having a follower is?

Of course, what happened next was just the expected result of two morons when others do not behave like they want. Did you honestly think that killing and resurrecting Ozma like he was a doll was the proper behavior of two Gods? That was stupid beyond redemption.

Yes, what Salem did next was a terrible idea, but at least I can empathize with her and her motives. After all, The Gods just toyed with her, like she was nothing in their eyes. There were tons of better ways for dealing with her without causing a ruckus.

However, the thing I find as the most obnoxious in all this mess was the way The Gods decided to solve the whole issue. I mean, when Salem asked The God of Light for Ozma to be resurrected, He said no because of the balance, but when He needs to clean the mess they all created then it is ok to bring Ozma back? He could have chosen anybody, but he ended up choosing him.

Do not tell me that was by chance or because he knew Salem. For me, that only showed how wicked The Gods are and how petty they can act when things do not go their way.

Finally, it is time to talk about Ozma/Ozpin. In all honesty, I agree with Salem’s point of view. The Gods clearly showed they did not care for humanity beyond considering the entire planet as an experiment, so why did they have to follow their will?

They would only be back if the four relics were brought together, and they did not give Ozma a deadline, so that judgment day could be easily avoided. Furthermore, Salem and Ozma had started a family and had started conquering the world. It was not a pretty campaign, but there was logic behind it. Moreover, eventually they could have decided to finally unify humanity and bring The Gods back. Delaying it did not mean to close that door.

Sadly, Ozpin decided to betray her beloved one. The woman who went through hell for him. In my opinion, that must be the worst decision he has made to this day. We know Salem is evil now, but at that time she truly loved Ozma and her family, plus she had strong and good reasons to not wanting to follow The Gods’ will.

Obviously after that, things went south and everything eventually get to the current point. Many people do not know why Salem is still trying to divide humanity, or why she is trying to bring back The Gods in this current scenario. However, from my point of view, I think she just wants to the world to be completely wipe out so she can finally die.

Keep in mind that she already wanted to die when she fell in the God of Darkness’ pool. Afterwards, she just went with the flow. I do not think that a person who wants to rule the world would be happy living in a tiny cabin in the middle of some forest. Even now, I don’t see Salem trying to conquer humanity, but trying to get the relics.

In a way, conquering humanity would unify it under one ruler and thus under one will. So if we stretch The Gods’ conditions we could think They might forgive mankind. However, Salem is clearly trying to divide humanity, so for me her goal is getting the entire world wiped out (she included), which makes sense to me.

Look at it this way. She lost her lover not once, but three times, and when she finally gets to be with him, he decided to betray her so she again ended up losing everything. I think it was in that very moment when she decided to get everything just wiped out in a kind of if-I-Cannot-Have-What-I-want-then-nobody-will way.

In fact, I truly believe that given the right conditions, Salem could even join hands with Ozpin to fight against The Gods. In the end, in my opinion, Salem wants to either get wiped out along with the entire world, or get the chance to be with her beloved again.

Nota-RWBY-v06e03-Review-05

So no, my opinion about Ozpin did not get better. I still hold him partially responsible for things going south after The Gods left; and as I said many times, he did not have to disclose all that information to the others. He just needed to tell Yang he could not agree to her conditions of “no more lies, no more half-truths” because he had strong reasons to behave like that.

He should have told them that his actions were backed by experience and that he had been betrayed many times before. He even should have added that if those words were too hard to accept, they were free to go. I am aware not everybody would have accepted those terms, but in the end, those who decided to follow him despite of that would have no reasons to complain later.

Now, before closing this review I have to say Rooster Teeth hit the ball out of the park with this episode. The amount of foreshadowing, of things falling into place, of things we now understand was amazing. I just watched episode one again and it gave me the shivers! It was fantastic, truly astonishing. It was definitely worthy of the longest episode of the series so far.

This world is truly the World of Remnant. The maidens are remnants of Ozpin and Salem’s offspring. Dust is remnant of what was magic before. Mankind is remnant of what was humanity before, and the list goes on. Congratulations guys! Bravo CRWBY!!! See ya in my next review.
